Tree pruning along Colorado’s front range is performed to protect trees, people, and property. Fort Collins Tree Care trained arborists can provide for all your tree and shrub care needs. Heavy spring snows, hazardous limbs, and trees growing in poorly suited places are all reasons to consult with us.
Pruning objectives are to reduce the risk of failure, enhance safety for property and people, maintain and improve plant health and vigor, provide clearance, and improve vistas/views. The pruning types most commonly employed are crown cleaning, crown thinning, structure pruning, and restoration pruning. Crown cleaning is the selective removal of broken, dead, diseased, and hazardous limbs. Crown thinning is the selective removal of live branches to reduce crown density. Focus is on the outer portion of the canopy where pruning is done to provide an even distribution of branches throughout the crown. Structure pruning is done on small to medium trees to improve tree form. Pruning of live branches is done to influence branch spacing (Scaffolding), branch taper, branch attachment, and establishment of a dominant central leader when possible. Restoration pruning is done to improve a tree structure after storm damage.
